Books for Keeps: IDology’s Latest Philanthropy Initiative

Giving back to the community is an essential part of the IDology culture. This includes leveraging IDology’s people, technology and resources to help improve communities both locally and around the world. Our goal is to promote a culture of caring and help give back in meaningful ways.

Recently, IDology partnered with Athens, Ga.-based Books for Keeps by sponsoring two classrooms in an area school, providing 12 books to each child in both classrooms to keep every child reading all summer long.

Books for Keeps’ primary program is a research-based effort to end “summer slide,” the learning loss suffered by many children when they are away from school. Children from low-income families are disproportionately affected by this loss, often due to a simple lack of access to books.

“We are excited to sponsor two classrooms with Books for Keeps and know that each child will have plenty of books to read over the summer,” said Chris Luttrell, senior vice president of IDology. “Giving back to the community is not only something I believe in, but our company does, too. The IDology team is proud to support our local Atlanta-area neighbors and children,” said Luttrell.

Since 2009, Books for Keeps has given more than 185,000 books to children from low-income families in grades Pre-K through 12. For 11 months of the year, Books for Keeps collects, inspects, sorts and box books to give them to children each May. At its heart, though, Books for Keeps is a grassroots effort to get books into the hands of children who might not otherwise have books at home.

Please consider joining Books for Keeps’ cause by volunteering, donating books, donating funds, becoming a sponsor, hosting a book drive or simply spreading the word. Your contributions could make a difference in the life of a child.
