Last week was Georgia’s Annual Technology Summit hosted by TAG (Technology Association of Georgia) where the much anticipated Top 10 and Top 40 innovative companies were announced. Hooray for IDology as we were named a Top 10 company! This is the 2nd time we’ve made the elite Top 10 list, the last time being in 2007.
During the event, TAG’s President Tino Mantella gave an update on the state of the industry and all in all, the news was pretty good. Some of the highlights include Georgia ranking 3rd both in financial technologies and in the security industry. And we’ve moved into a Top 10 position for high tech employment with TAG’s goal for us to be in the Top 5. If you want to see more including an overview on how VC funding ranks, you can download the complete report here.
Other highlights of the day included keynotes from Tom Koulopoulos who spoke on innovation (innovation is about changing behavior, not technology) and Carlos Dominguez who spoke about how video is the technology to embrace and some of the innovative things Cisco is doing (yes, this did inspire me to start comparison shopping for a Flip phone so I guess I should say job well done for “soft” selling Cisco products.) Throughout the day, the Top 10 Innovative Companies were asked to give a 3 minute presentation. Ours went well except for a compatibility issue with our powerpoint version which made our slide formatting look a little funky. Of course, I’m a little biased.
The day wrapped up after lunch but not before the “People’s Choice” votes were announced for all the Top 40 companies in the expo hall. Hooray for IDology again as we were voted “Most Likely To Succeed.”
